Town staff are closely monitoring Tropical Storm Nicole system in the Caribbean and coordinating with Sarasota County Emergency Management. There remains considerable uncertainty as to the track, intensity and landfall. Please monitor local media and ensure your hurricane plan is in place.
The current forecast indicates a southeast Florida landfall as a Hurricane, and then move northwest across the peninsula. There is a potential for tropical storm conditions in our area late Wednesday and into Thursday. Depending on the track, we may experience periods of heavy rainfall and tropical storm force winds.
The National Hurricane Center will release another weather advisory Wednesday morning and we will update our messaging based on that forecast. Updates will be published on the Town’s website www.longboatkey.org, our Facebook and Twitter accounts, if severe weather threatens Longboat Key.
